Friday June 7th: BLOG - DJ Achien en Tempest
On Friday, June 7, Coco invites two Black Ladies of Groningen: DJ Achien and Tempest. Black Ladies of Groningen (BLOG) is a community founded in 2018 to create a safe space. A support group that makes it easier for women of color to connect, build friendships, and support each other. A platform of solidarity, empowerment, and sisterhood. Coco has helped them book DJs of color for events and has taught them DJing.
DJ Achien is one of the Black Ladies Coco has mentored. Her roots are in Tanzania, which is wonderfully reflected in her music. Get ready for some groovy, sexy tunes during her set. But also R&B, amapiano, and maybe even a Beyoncé track.
Next, Tempest takes the stage. Expect hard-hitting trap, drum & bass, and jungle beats. One thing is certain: it will be an hour of non-stop dancing to electronic breakbeat!

Coco Coquelicot is committed to advancing the Groningen music scene. She is the co-founder of Relate Radio and the organizer of the highly acclaimed queer club night Butts. For Blikopener Festival, she invites four emerging DJs that you definitely don’t want to miss. You may not know them yet, but that will change very soon! Saturday June 8th: Madurodarm en Lunacious
With Staatseinde, Kleine Crack & Slagter, and Hang Youth on the lineup, Saturday promises hard-hitting, danceable tunes. In the Huiskamer Madurodarm kicks things off. This duo played their first show at Relate Radio and promises alternative, danceable punk.
Lunacious is one of the talents from Coco’s DJ lessons. She stood out as a student with an incredibly wide interest in diverse music genres. For Lunacious, music doesn’t just have to be danceable; it can literally go in any direction. From punk and alternative to fine listening tracks from singer-songwriters, expect everything. Let her unique mix surprise you at Blikopener Festival.
