Afra Rijkhoff and Sarah van der Meere form the education-making duo DRUKCollectief. DRUKCollectief is busy. Inside and out. Afra and Sarah are busy and feel pressured. Since 2018, they have been creating visual and interactive performances around the question: how do we deal with the pressure we experience from society and the pressure we impose on ourselves?
In collaboration with youth platform 2 of Nite, they created Life is a (2018, Noorderzon), Kom je lekker met ons niksen (2019, Oerol), and Noctem (2022, KopjeK Festival). Since 2023, DRUKCollectief has been investigating the role of education and theater makers in the socially artistic practice for Station Noord.
Van de bank af?!
Inequality and injustice continue to grow. Initiatives such as the food bank and clothing bank provide assistance to people who are struggling to make ends meet. For Blikopener Festival, DRUKCollectief delves into the world of the clothing bank. They do this together with visitors. How do they want to be seen? What stories do they want to share and how do they shape them? With a creative approach, we empower the visitors.
This quest is part of the co-creation project Van de bank af?! In collaboration with the Voedselbank Groningen, Kledingbank de Zeecontainer, Ton Brandsen and the Parelduikers, we devise alternatives to get off the couch.
