Elly van Eeghem & campusatelier

Public Plan

In Public Plan, Elly van Eeghem and CAMPUSatelier dive into the 'publicness' of public spaces in the city of Groningen. Which spaces in the city are beloved and which ones are not? Which private spaces should be opened up to the public again? Where do you feel like the unwanted public?

Recently, the Public Plan boardgame was played, and based on all the outcomes, Elly van Eeghem designed a fictional city map of Groningen. This city map now serves as the starting point for the next phase, the Public Planning Bureau.

Public Planning Bureau in Forum Groningen

How do you remember, experience, or dream of the squares, streets, and parks of Groningen?

From June 3 to 6, Elly van Eeghem and CAMPUSatelier will be camping in Forum Groningen. We would love to talk to you and map your experience of the city. Together, we will create drawings and models of beloved, feared, and dreamed public spaces.

Everyone contributes a piece to the city map. All maps will be collected and combined into a gigantic, cartographic patchwork. In this way, we together form an image of Groningen and its public spaces.

The Public Planning Bureau Groningen is continuously open from June 3 to 6 (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM) in Forum Groningen (central hall).

Blikopener Festival

At Blikopener Festival, we share all insights and results with the festival audience. Sitting around the Public Plan, we invite you to come and listen to the stories from the city. We will review proposals for new shared spaces.
