Verdedig Noord

Massih Hutak is a Dutch-language hip-hop artist, producer, and writer from Amsterdam-Noord. He founded the hip-hop-inspired grassroots movement Verdedig Noord. Through artistic-cultural and socio-community work, Massih advocates for a solidarity-based city. He authored the book Jij hebt ons niet ontdekt, wij waren hier altijd al and the theater production Verdedig Noord . Last year, his album Welkom in de Noordside was released, accompanied by an exhibition of the same name at the Amsterdam Museum.

Massih Hutak was a teacher for years. In 2023, he developed his own educational program under Verdedig Noord. Named School voor strijders, he explored how hip-hop could offer solutions to complex societal issues. Massih is a weekly columnist on Radio 1's program De Nieuws BV.
