Blikopener Festival confirms:
house dj suze ijó
In a time when tempos are ever accelerating, house DJ Suze Ijó takes a different direction. She mixes classic vinyl with modern tracks to create a unique atmosphere full of deep, soulful, and hypnotic beats. With a melting pot of tracks from West Africa, the West Indies, and Latin America, Suze Ijó highlights the non-Western tradition of soulful house and funk. For Suze Ijó, house embodies not just a genre of dance music, but also a mood, a way of moving, an ethic, and a cultivation of the spirit.

confirmed in the expo
At Blikopener Festival, DesignArbeid presents the project Toon. Toon places art, interventions, and artistic processes in the public space. These works provoke conversations about various themes, such as: what does saying goodbye mean? What is value? And what is work?
You’ve probably played the well-known board game Guess Who? before. At Blikopener Festival, you'll encounter a life-sized version of this game: Wie zijn wij? It’s an invitation to engage in a conversation about the history of slavery. A shared past that we all have in common. What do you know about the people who played a role in it in the past or are still affected by it today?
The installation Who Owns the Economy? reflects the quest of Olga Mink, Godelieve Spaas, and Peter Zuiderwijk to answer this question. Whether we're grocery shopping or filling out tax returns, we all deal with the rules that apply in our shared household. But does the economy belong to us? Who determines its rules? How do we shape the economy of tomorrow together?
In the Netherlands, about five million people provide informal care, often selflessly and sometimes for long periods and intensively. Bureau Ruimtekoers and Nikki Loef spoke with caregivers. Their artwork Verhalen met Zorg continuously grows as visitors share their stories in clay works. All these care symbols show how diverse caring for another can be.
At DeMensplek Karavaan, a coffee pot simmers. Around the mobile cart, conversations, stories, and connections emerge. Here, people can reflect on caring for themselves and for others, as sometimes there is too little genuine attention for one another, too little contact with each other.
