Inequality and injustice continue to grow. Initiatives like the food bank and clothing bank provide assistance to people who are struggling to make ends meet. There is a significant stigma attached to them. They are often labeled as lazy or unwilling to work. The real issue is that people want to work but are unable to keep up with the current capitalist system. While it is good that these groups of people are being supported, it simultaneously perpetuates the system.
Can we come up with alternatives to get off the bank? This question is explored with Voedselbank Groningen and Kledingbank de Zeecontainer. Ton Brandsen and the Pearl Divers immerse themselves in the world of the food bank. Together with the volunteers who work there, they shape their stories through music and singing.
DRUKCollectief delves into the world of the clothing bank. They do this alongside the visitors. How do they want to be seen? What stories do they want to share, and how do they want to shape them? With a creative approach, we empower the visitors.
