Blikopener Festival confirms:

dialogue and encounter in de avondblik

In the program segment De Avondblik, artist and creative entrepreneur Cissy Joan provides platforms for subcultures in the city to showcase themselves. Move Huntu tells hidden stories about motherhood and the role of women in the multidisciplinary performance Mama. The Pink Cube draws attention to the immense waiting times in transgender care in the Netherlands with the participatory work Our Exquisite Corpse. African theater maker and performing artist Dr. Nii Ocquaye Hammond tells the stories of our ancestors in Tales of Tule Tanko. Who were our ancestors and how have they influenced our lives?

a new perspective on healthcare?

The Amsterdam-based artists' collective MOHA sparks a discussion about healthcare. What happens when the stereotypes associated with care are broken? What reactions do gestures of care provoke among the festival audience? Students from the interRelational Art Practices (iRAP) program take the audience on a journey through diverse artistic and design practices. The work often arises in relation, dialogue, or collaboration with others. Relational artist Eva Koopmans & De Makkers present The Waiting Room: an artwork about caring for each other. Who takes care of you? And whom do you care for?

soulful melodies and eclectic sets

With her sensitive voice and soulful melodies, Rommy Gabay invites visitors to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Her musical stories strike a chord in the heart and inspire self-reflection. Berlin-based artist SENU continuously falls in love with the sounds of Africa, the Americas, and urban spaces from various diasporas. No eclectic show is the same. SENU is one of the founders of SLIC Unit, a DJ collective practicing collective joy and radical solidarity within the music industry.
